NESTLED ON A DRAMATIC HEADLAND

5 BEDS | 4 BATHS

Prior to engaging Julius Bokor Architect to build a residence on the highest point of the land, the owners had established a compound of temporary huts on the site. They had camped here every holiday for 12 years. Enjoying this arrangement, they wanted the same feeling carried over into the new house, with a real focus on outdoor living and a strong connection to the natural environment.

They wanted the accommodation to be low-maintenance, intimate and comfortable no matter how many people were staying – sometimes it was just a couple and other times up to 12. They also desired the design to feel timeless, choosing to build with a small palette of building material-- steel zinc glass cement, and rammed earth excavated on site.

UNIQUE PAVILION-STYLE DESIGN

FLEXIBLE ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Featured in several architectural magazines, such as the Australian Architectural Review and Habitus, the property comprises a collection of six versatile pavilions plus three bathroom pavilions, each designed to serve different functions. They accommodate five bedrooms, a kitchen and dining space, a living area and an art room. Each time you move between pavilions you are exposed to the breathtaking natural surroundings.

The steel-framed structures feature terrazzo flooring and zinc roofs, which have formed a patina over time. Sliding walls blur the lines between the indoors and out, and floor to ceiling glass enhances the filtered views through the gum trees to the beach and sea.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR LIVING FOCUS

TERRACES & COURTYARD

A three-minute walk directly down to the beach, the residence is set amid beautifully lit terraced gardens of Burrawang ferns and spotted gums, bordered by rammed earth walls which provide privacy for each pavilion.

The pavilions are arranged around open courtyards which form a relaxed alfresco living environment beneath a canopy of trees adding to the undisturbed and sequestered nature of the property.

An outdoor shower is a refreshing welcome on your return from the beach.

A SECLUDED COASTAL PARADISE

A REGION OF SCENIC NATURAL BEAUTY

Walking trails lead over headlands to deserted beaches and rocky coves, all with an abundance of wildlife, fascinating plants and sea life. The beach in front is accessible to the public only via bushwalking trails from the nearby hamlets of Guerilla Bay and Rosedale. The spotted gum forests which run all the way down to the shoreline are unique to this part of NSW.

In addition to the coastline, the Eurobodalla area is well known for its pristine rivers, lakes and waterways which provide opportunities for fishing, diving and all manner of water sports.
